2021 Leadership Interviews
Leadership interviews have been completed and what a great job the nominees did! We now have the very hard task of selecting our 2021 captains. It was wonderful to sit and talk with the candidates. Young people never cease to amaze us. Good luck to all who applied!
End of Term Expectations
We have two weeks of school left for 2020. Very exciting, but also a little daunting as there is still so much to be done. Students are expected to maintain the fantastic attitude they have displayed all term. Correct uniform, hard work, positive attitude and kindness still apply. I know that the students will continue to be the best they can.
Mindfulness
The last couple of weeks in Assembly has seen us complete a ‘mindfulness’ exercise. Feedback I am receiving from students and staff is that they really enjoyed it. If your child (or you) is interested in practising some mindfulness there is a huge array of exercises to choose from on YouTube or apps. It is nice to just sit and try and focus on only the moment. As I have said to the Dunhelen students: you cannot change the past, you cannot predict the future, so live in the moment.
Christmas Fundraisers
A very big thank you to the families that have supported our Royal Children’s Hospital and Lentara fundraisers. It is so heart warming to see the students give what they can. Many families, through the generosity of our students, will be able to have a little joy at Christmas time this year.
2020 Art and Design Exhibition
The Aitken College Inaugural Art and Design Exhibition was held online this term and it received 32,098 individual votes. A fantastic job by all! A very big thank you to Mrs Camilleri and the Art Faculty for all the work and hours preparing the exhibition. It was very hard to determine winners and I congratulate all students on their amazing pieces. Please go to the Visual Arts section of this newsletter to see who our winners were.
2020 Presentation Night Online Viewing
Our presentation night this year will be different. You will be receiving information on how to view the ceremony. Please do take the time to sit down with your child and help us celebrate the achievements of 2020.
