Principal's Message

Mrs Josie Crisara
Busy End of Year
It is a busy time of the year. Our Year 12 students are still completing VCE exams and we look forward to celebrating them at the Valedictory dinner on Thursday 10 December. Year 10 and Year 11 students have started a two week Early Commencement program and students in Prep to Year 9 are continuing with business as usual. We should be proud of our students who have been making the best of what they have. It has been heart-warming to see the significant support given to the Giving Tree fundraiser to help families in the wider community who are struggling. Giving and not expecting in return provides those feel-good moments and help us realise just how blessed we are.
Uniting Church Schools Association
Twice a year, schools associated with the Uniting Church meet to discuss topics relevant to our organisations. The key focus of the meeting was to look at characteristics that demonstrate our links including some key opportunities. Areas discussed included actively engaging with First Peoples, enabling faith development, celebrating the equality and value of all people, listening to all voices, rejoicing in the diversity of faiths, cultures and languages, justice for all peoples and the environment and courageously elevating difficult subjects for conversation. This is a work in progress; however, during the meeting we shared and reflected on the following prayer, "Prayer of Shelter and Shadow", which is so apt for the times we are experiencing.
Prayer of Shelter and Shadow
It is in the shelter of each other that the people live.
It is in the shadow of each other that the people live.
We know that sometimes we are alone,
and sometimes we are in community.
Sometimes we are in shadow,
and sometimes we are surrounded by shelter.
Sometimes we feel like exiles –
in our land, in our languages and in our bodies.
And sometimes we feel surrounded by welcome.
As we seek to be human together,
may we share the things that do not fade:
Generosity, truth telling, silence, respect and love.
And may the power we share
be for the good of all.
We honour God, the source of this rich life.
And we honor each other, story – full and lovely.
Whether in our shadow or in our shelter,
we live well and fully
with each other.
Amen!
