Principal's Message

Did the best team win ?

Yellow and Black

"Oh We're from Tiger land , Yellow and Black"

A very happy Richmond fan here, and the song could be heard echoing through the hills from the Rouda household last Saturday night.

We had a fantastic day celebrating Footy Day, with the school ground taking on a colorful gleam with AFL teams, Rugby Teams, Netball, Basketball and every sport in between.

It was a brilliant way to shake off the COVID blues, have some friendly rivalry and sing our team songs. Thank you to all the families for making a great effort.

Canteen Helpers

The Year 5&6 children have been very eager to become canteen assistants to help Nicole in the rush hour at the canteen. With COVID, our wonderful parent volunteers are unable to be on-site. The students have been serving up a storm and enjoying putting their mathematical skills to the test, calculating change.

Leadership WebEx with Jackson Taylor

Some of the school leaders volunteered to take part in a program from the Parliament of Victoria called "Ask an MP", an  online Q&A which aims to continue connecting students with their MP during the social distancing period.

Our MP, Jackson Taylor,

wanted to connect with the school leaders to answer any questions they had concerning COVID, or leadership in general.

The questions were firing at Jackson from our students and Jackson commented that they definitely had the attributes to become future politicians. I hope you enjoyed the video message from Jackson at our last school assembly. Thank you to Mrs. Hopkins for organizing the meeting.

Academic Excellence

Our students have been achieving outstanding Academic success in many areas of the curriculum including Mathematics, Science, Reading and Writing.

Please take the time to look in this issue of the newsletter at the student's who are excelling in their work. Thank you to Miss Jacobs and Mrs. Moon for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the children have the opportunities to be involved.

Class Placements

We will soon be planning classes for next year. This is a complex process involving a range of factors and allocations will not be finalized until the last weeks of the school year.

This year we are asking that you trust the teachers to make the best placement for your child based on educational needs, and as always we try to place students with at least one known friend of their choice. We also have an extensive record of past requests on file which we take into consideration with class placement. Please note if there is matter of critical concern to contact Melissa or I directly however we do not accept requests for placement with individual teachers.

Enjoy the weekend with friends and family with the easing of restrictions.

Stay Safe
