Across the Principal's Desk

by Karl Schier

We’re getting closer to the end of a very unusual year for educating our young people but we have managed to fit quite a bit into this term with students back on site after remote and flexible learning. We worked hard on settling our students back in and starting the process of catching them up on any gaps in their learning. We will continue with this focus next year by offering extra programs to ensure our students’ needs are met. However, we haven’t finished this year yet!

Our Year 12 exams will be completed by the end of this week. It is no doubt a great relief for them to finish their exams after a very challenging final year. They won’t receive their results until late December, which is later than usual due to the disruption caused by COVID. We wish them well! We’ve had our Headstart program running this week for our Year 11 students going into Year 12. This provides them with the opportunity to make a start on Year 12 early and enables them to do the work they need to do over the Summer break to be ready for next year. We also offer a Headstart program for our Year 10 students going into Year 11 next year so they can be prepared for making a start on their Senior Studies.

We are pleased to be able to send our students off on camps in the next couple of weeks – better late than never. There was a time not so long ago that we didn’t think camps were going to be possible for the whole year, so it’s a bonus. Our Year 7 students will explore Halls Gap, our Year 8 students are off to the coast and our Year 9 students will have some adventures in Healesville. So, we have quite a bit happening with lots of great opportunities for our students over the next few weeks.
