Parents & Friends

Hi Everyone,

It feels so good to be able to provide you with an update on fundraising. What a year 2020 has turned out to be! We hope that you and your families and loved ones are safe and well coming out of lockdown.

2020 has proven to be a challenging year for all and that includes our fundraising – we had such grand plans, but have had to change lots due to the pandemic.

It’s been really difficult to execute any type of fundraising with no parents allowed on school premises, so we would just like to say thank you to the Staff, especially David and Cameron for stepping in and selling icy poles. This helps offer some normalcy for the students.

In light of the COVID pandemic, here is an update on what’s changing and what’s happening going forwards.

Term 4

Christmas Cake/ Fruit Tart Orders

We are currently in the process of organising a Christmas cake/ fruit tart fundraiser with Bakers Delight. These have been hugely successful in previous years, so we’re moving ahead with organising this for December. Order forms will be sent out at the end of November/early December.

Christmas Raffle

We received so many generous donations towards the fete at the beginning of 2020 from our wonderful school community and now our fete is postponed, we didn’t want the generosity to go to waste. We have decided to include some of the items in our raffle for Christmas this year. Students will be sent home with raffle tickets for purchasing in early December.

We understand that it’s been a tough year for us all, however if you would like to donate something towards this Christmas raffle, please leave your donation in a box at reception. Boxes of chocolates, party items, small gifts – anything goes.

Further details of this event will be sent home in the coming weeks.

Icy Poles

These will be available every Friday during Term 4. $1.50 each.

2021

Fete

It really doesn’t feel like we have lived in 2020, so plans for 2021 seem to have come around so quickly. In discussions with David, we have decided that we are going to postpone the school fete until 2022. It hasn’t been an easy decision to make, however it is the right one. It’s impossible to guess as to when we might be allowed to socialise and have an event of more than 500. We want this event to be enjoyed by as many members of our school and wider community as possible.

We have already a new confirmed date for our fete – Saturday 2nd April 2022.

This will be our biggest and best fete yet, we promise!

Colour Run

With the postponement of the fete, we have decided that we will organise a colour run on Friday 26th March 2021. We are going to organise this ourselves to ensure fairness across the community for students fundraising. We are in discussions with David and Cam regarding prizes that we may be able to offer, and we hope by then that we may be allowed on the school premises to support this event.

Quiz Night – Term 3

We will be organising an adult only quiz evening during Term 3. This will be a parent/ family/ friend /teacher event – we think us parents/ teachers have well and truly earned a fun night! More details will be released later in 2021.

Family movie night

This is something that we have talked about recently and David is keen for this too. We are thinking that we may incorporate it into our family night in early 2021, should DET guidelines allow it.

Remaining fundraising for 2021

We will be organising special lunches, hot cross buns, Bunnings BBQ, winter Friday treats to name a few. An update and a plan for 2021 will be sent out soon, but this will be a draft version, as these are subject to this pandemic and guidelines from DET.

We would like to thank our community for your ongoing support during 2020 and beyond. Our school is important to us all and it shows through the support and generosity of our school community, so thank you.

Stay safe,
