Remembrance Day

On Wednesday, 11 November, students and staff at Doncaster Secondary College commemorated Remembrance Day.

On the 11th of November in 1918, the Armistice between the forces of Germany and the Western Allies took effect and guns fell silent on the Western Front. This ended what was known as The Great War or World War 1.

Due to the restrictions in place, a virtual service was hosted by the Shrine of Remembrance, which the College community was invited to be a part of.

A wreath was delivered to the Doncaster RSL who hosted a virtual minute's silence at 11.00 am. Students and staff were able to observe the minute's silence with the community via a Zoom meeting link that was sent out by the Doncaster RSL. The College delivered a wreath to Doncaster RSL to be placed at the memorial site.

It was an opportunity to collectively pause and remember those who have given their lives in war in service to their country.
