Parliament Prize Competition 2020

I would like to congratulate our International Students Berry E (9E) and Harry B (11A).

Both of them have received an Award in the 2020 Parliament Prize competition. Their achievement has been acknowledged with a ‘Highly Commended Certificate’. Highly Commended Certificates were only awarded to students who were in the top 5% of entries across Victoria.

This year the Parliament Prize Competition received a record number of entries; 748 students entered from 186 schools across Victoria. The judges were extremely impressed with the enthusiasm and passion evident in Berry and Harry’s statement speech.

The students share their reflection below:

The topic I chose to discuss was “Sign Language should be offered as an elective or language course in Australian schools". This is because I believe that students should be given the opportunity to learn a language that can be used for communication all around the world regardless of where you are from.

Berry E (9E)

With a great passion for public speaking and politics, when I was told about the Parliament Prize by Mrs. Huang, it just took me a few seconds to decide to participate in this competition. When I heard that I received the Highly Recommend Award, I was really surprised because they sent me the awards after 1 week they announced the top 3 results. With this award, my voice has been heard and hopefully, in the future, Australia can profoundly claim that it is a multicultural country where racism doesn’t exist.

Year 12 Celebration Day

What a challenging year it has been. Well done to all of our Year 12 International Students for successfully managing the combined pressure of working towards their final exams and handling the anxiety brought on by this unusual time while they are alone in a new country.

It was so lovely to see you all on campus exhibiting so much positivity on the Year 12 Celebration Day. Good luck with your final exams and all the best for your future!

Homestay Information and Awareness Session

A huge thank you to all of our homestay families in attending our annual Homestay Information and Awareness Session on Wednesday, 28 October. We really appreciate your time and attendance.

Not only was it a good opportunity for us to be refreshed and updated with the current policies and requirements, but it was also a time for our homestay community to get together and share their invaluable experiences and ideas.

All the thoughts shared from our homestay community were very insightful and we feel so extremely grateful that we have such caring and responsible families to help us look after our International Students.
