PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Kinder Enrolments for 2018

We are now calling for enrolments for Kindergarten for 2018. We will be organising interviews for early Term 3 with  families who have returned their enrolment forms. We look forward to meeting our next group of students!

Bursary for 2018

Financial assistance to parents of secondary school pupils attending Diocesan schools is provided by the Catholic Schools Office. The grants are allocated on a needs basis, measured by the parents/carers gross family income. Applicants for the year 2018 bursaries should be enrolling in Year 7 in 2018 and the assistance continues until Year 10. Application forms are available from Cathy in the Front Office.

Pupil Free Day

On Monday 17 July we will be holding a Staff Development Day. Students will start Term 3 on Tuesday 18 July. Teachers will be learning about lesson observations, feedback and explicit teaching strategies.

Christmas in July Night Out

Please support our next P and F fundraiser. It should be a great night out for our parents and you are welcome to invite your friends along - the more the merrier!

Uniform

Thank you to our students and families for the effort with wearing correct school uniform. Early next term we will be holding a uniform check to encourage the correct wearing of the uniform. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any needs in purchasing the uniform.

Marriage and Families Week

We will be finalising our plans for Marriage and Families Week on Friday this week. Please note that this will be held in Week 2 from Monday 24 July to Friday 28 July. We usually have an event for our Grandparents in this week. I know we have some visiting grandparents at our day and am just putting out the dates in advance for planning. I will aim to put the final date on Facebook on Friday.

Student Reports

Semester 1 Student Reports will be sent home on Friday. Early next term there will be Parent Teacher Interviews for you to discuss your child's report.

Semester 1 Ends - How have we gone?

Last week we took time as a staff to reflect on our progress this year. Our Annual Improvement Plan which is a document that sets our goals for the year was reviewed. Out of our 45 recommendations we have implemented/completed 24. We are over half way! Our focus on Literacy and Numeracy improvement across our school continues to be a focus for all staff. Next term we will see the implementation of the Levelled Literacy Instruction program in the Secondary. Likewise our continued work on Pastoral Care/Wellbeing continues with the primary classes being involved in the peer support program. Our work on the Pupil Free Day mentioned above is also one of our Annual Improvement Goals.

Happy Holidays!

Thank you for the support given to our students and school this term by our families. I hope your family has a lovely break from the routines of school life. Remember it is ok for your children to be bored... being bored allows for reflection and also creativity. We look forward to seeing our students safe and well on Tuesday 18 July.

God bless,

Jilly Rainger
