Opening Service

Opening Service 2019
The Opening Service on Monday 4 February was a wonderful time to gather the whole school together to begin the year, to welcome new students and staff and dedicate the year to God.
We were joined by our partners in education: the Lutheran Schools Association, represented by Deputy Director, Ms Mignon Weckert, and Connected Schools Principals and School Captains from Good Shepherd Lutheran School, Golden Grove Lutheran Primary and St Paul Lutheran School. We were also delighted to have present at the service, guests including Council Chair, Dr Merryn Ruwoldt, Mr Michael Brown MP, Mayor Gillian Aldridge and representing Councillor Beau Brug, Lisa Braun.
The worship service, led by Chaplain, Charlie Tatera was based on our Term 1 theme, Living Well. The ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ song was used to help direct our thoughts to what the Bible says about how to Live Well. The text from Philippians 5:6-7 reminds us ‘To not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.’
New staff, and the 2019 College Captains and new Student Action Team Leaders (SAT), together with Village and Extra-Curricular Leaders and the SAT Teams were also installed.
Dr Merryn Ruwoldt recognized Thomas Keller, Vikki Neldner, Mark Slaven, Tertia Visser, Heather Vogt and Daniel Wooldridge for their ten years of service to Endeavour College. Ms Mignon Weckert presented awards in recognition of 10 years service to Lutheran Education to Kirsty Hansen, Thomas Keller, Vikki Neldner, Mark Slaven, Tertia Visser and Daniel Wooldridge. Penny Werner and Sasha Loveday were also recognised for their 20 years service. We are proud and grateful for the contributions these people have given to our Endeavour community and Lutheran Education.
The 2018 College Dux, awarded to the Year 12 student who achieved the highest ATAR score was presented to Bradyn Walsh by Michal Stanek, the Endeavour College Dux from 2008. Michal, who is a Systems Engineering consultant for the Nova Group, working on the SEA 5000 Future Frigates project, addressed the audience, sharing his tips for the future.
Students who were awarded Merit and A+ grades in 2018 were also recognised for their achievements. A summary of the results is on the Vision for Learning page.
Thanks go to the students who contributed to the worship: Welcome to Country by Nathan Walker, the Chapel Band, Readings by Shatha Jamal-Awar and Joel Gregurev and Prayers by Amber Pegoli, Grace Atta and parent, Karen Kerber.
