Planting in G4

Our G4 students investigated the advantages of planting crops in season. The students researched what plants were ready to be planted in Autumn and Winter.  They also investigated the nutritional requirements for plants and optimal growing conditions. Students designed and planned a garden for food consumption for the school, considering a range of factors. We planted broad beans, snow peas, cabbage, spinach, rocket and some poppy seeds.

We also researched what the names of the plants were in Indonesian and made signs to put in the garden beds.  The students have enjoyed immersing themselves in nature and learning where our food comes from. They are looking forward to watching their plants grow and harvesting the crops when they are fully grown.

HASS Studies

In HASS this term we have been learning about the past, present and future. We have been discussing how things change over time. We have explored some of our individual pastsand are now exploring what things have changed overtime and why. We have been having fun watching videos and reading books to help with our understanding of the past.

R4 The Three Little Pigs

Reception and Year 1 students in R4 are learning about Narratives. We have been reading different versions of the story “The Three Little Pigs” and have engaged in many tasks including re-telling the story through play, sequencing the story with pictures and identifying the setting, characters and problems in the story.

Students enjoyed learning about the ordinal numbers first, second and third and when creating houses out of straw, sticks and bricks.

R2 would like to say thank you!

Thank you to Variety - the Children’s Charity for supporting our school. R2 and G4 are very grateful to have received a grant from Variety to cover transport to and from our weekly swimming lessons. With this grant, we were able to organise a bus service. R2 have loved travelling on the minibus. Thank you!

Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (ASO) performance

On 9th of June our R-2 students had an exciting opportunity to travel into the city and visit the Adelaide Town Hall to watch the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra perform ‘Stan and Mabel and the Race for Space’. The Orchestra had over 30 musicians playing and telling a story of how Stan and Mabel helped their friends escape from the School for Wild and Dangerous Animals!

This excursion was at no cost to our families due to the  generosity of the ASO who provided the tickets free of charge and a very generous friend to our school who paid for the bus.

We really appreciated their generosity and thank you them for making this fabulous opportunity available to our students.
