YouthWeek Activities at KHS
Kempsey Shire Council donated $1,000 to put towards activities for Youth Week. Originally, we were going to celebrate at the end of Term 1 but due to the floods, the activities were postponed until Term 2, Week 5. There was a range of activities during recess and lunchtime for the whole week for our students to participate in. Some of the activities organised were: a handball competition, table tennis, netball, tradie race, card games and dodgeball. It was great to see the competitive side of our students.
With the grant from Council, we were able to provide snacks for the students and vouchers to local businesses for the winners of each activity. Thank you to Council for their generous donation!
Thank you to all the school faculties and groups that ran the activities throughout the week too!
IDAHOBIT and Pride Celebrations
PRIDE
On May 17th we celebrated IDAHOBIT day (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia). The students dressed up in their rainbow regalia and there were prizes awarded at assembly for the best dressed. The Senior leaders also took a pledge at assembly stating that they stand against discrimination showing their support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
In June we celebrated Pride at Kempsey High School with table tennis, games and a dance party.
Thank you to Baylin’s Gift who kindly donated rainbow merchandise that was distributed to students to show their pride.
