NAIDOC  Week Assembly

Kempsey High School held a very moving and professional NAIDOC assembly on Tuesday 28 June. Preston Kelly and Tanayah Vale did a wonderful job as the Master of Ceremonies and the Welcome to Country was given by Ruby Hoskins-Gould and Raymond Cooper and overseen by Uncle Fred Kelly. Some outstanding cultural dance performances were performed by Clontarf and NASCA, under the expert guidance and teaching of Fig Tree Mob. The audience were moved by the cultural dance performances and were given the opportunity to see "The goanna spirit on Anderson Sugarloaf Mountain -Sugarloaf" -ABC This Place featuring Uncle Bob Smith and Shaylan.

Another highlight was the interactive interview panel, hosted by KHS students Ruby Hoskins-Gould and Flynn Treloar. A big thank you is extended to the interview panel, Simone Smith, Anthony Cowan, Joel Cooper and Nancy Patterson, who answered questions with passion and insight.

There was then the presentation of NAIDOC awards by Mrs. Georgie Murphy, Ms. Lara Wasileski and Mr. Jed Peisley. Congratulations to all award recipients for their outstanding achievements. Mr. Simon McKinney closed the assembly with his Executive Principal's address and then award recipients, staff and special guests were invited to the Red Onion Café to enjoy a light morning tea.
