YEAR 10 TEXTILES

TOTE BAGS

Students in Year 10 Textiles elective made a Tote bag, many of them choosing to embellish the bag with an iron on permanent printed image using our new CRICUT machine that makes great stencils and images that can be applied to fabric or other surfaces.

Students learnt to work from a design they created themselves and then cut and assemble the pattern pieces using the sewing machine to put it all together, noting the steps in their Production Plan as they progressed through the task. From a totally on trend puffer bag complete with logo, to embroidered totes in cross body style, patchwork denim with yarn decoration, a red and pink Tote with detailed pocket applique, and a London phone box! An elegant tonal Tote in Bo Ho style with printed retro 70’s flowers to a punk cross body bag with charms and prints as decoration, and a cute sleeping cat Tote bag, the designs were as clever as they were varied. The students are to be commended on their efforts in creating these stylish and very usable bags.
