VICTORIAN GLOBAL LEARNING AWARDS

Each year the Victorian Government offer prestigious awards to high achieving International Students.

For the 2021 academic year, one of our international students, Ka Lok (Andy) Un was nominated for an award under the category of Visual Arts. Andy is a talented visual artist, with some of his artwork showcased around the school.

On Friday 17th June, Andy attended the awards ceremony, held in The Metropolis room, Southbank, at which he received a commendation award for his talented artwork.

Congratulations Andy.

Mention should also be made of our Art Department at Brighton Secondary College and in particular, Mr Lynch-Wells for his support and encouragement of Andy which lead to him receiving this award.

Award winners from previous years were also invited and we were thrilled to meet up with Sue Duong, an ex-International student of our school who graduated in 2015. Following her graduation, Sue studied Industrial Design at Monash University and is now fully employed by a Melbourne City based company that is currently involved in developing ‘eco-friendly food packaging’. Sue mentioned the amazing support she received from Mr Roger Dammers (Visual Communication teacher) during and after her time at our school, which has lead to her pursuing a career in eco-friendly design.

Applications for 2022 will open later this year in the categories of Student Leadership, Community Engagement, Visual Arts, Global Citizenship, Academic Achievement and I’m confident we will once again feature amongst the finalists.
