Celebrating School Pride
On Thursday 2nd June our Green Team led by Venkat Kalva attended the Resource Smart Schools (RSS) Awards held at the MCG. We are very proud to announce that our Green Team took out 3 awards on the day:
- Student Action Team of the Year
- Community Leadership School of the Year
- Resource Smart School of the Year
We are extremely proud, not only of our Green Team members who have achieved this fantastic recognition, but by all members of the College community who have been doing their part to help us become a more environmentally friendly and sustainable school. Congratulations to all the current and past staff, students and community members who have helped us in our sustainability journey and win all these awards. Please see the full article later in this newsletter from the Green Team outlining their amazing achievements.
On Tuesday 7th June our student leaders ran our second house day of the year with many different activities our students could participate in near the gym. Dodgeball against the Year 12s was extremely popular with our Year 7’s beating the 12’s in their game! We had finger painting to create a house mural in our house colours, music and other activites that students could compete in for their house. It was a great lunchtime and all of our student leaders led by our Director of Student Leadership, Tracey Cain, did an amazing job. Activities and days like our house day really help build our House culture and the sense of belonging each student has to their House.
Student Subject Selections
Our students are currently in the middle of completing their subject selections for next year. All students have been given a code to log into my.edval.education which enables them to select the subjects they would like to study in 2023. If students have any questions they should see any member of our Pathways team or their ASPIRE teacher. The deadline for entering subject selections is Friday 17th June.
Attitudes to School Survey
Over the past three weeks our students have been completed the Attitudes to School Survey which gives us feedback on how they are feeling about a range of different areas in their learning, wellbeing, and the school environment. The student participation rate has been very good, and we are very thankful for the feedback we receive from our Students as this helps us diagnose areas for improvement and prioritise areas to focus on moving forward.
Upcoming Events
On Tuesday 14th our VCAL and Year 11 Accounting Students will be hosting our first ever Market Day with many different activities and stalls for students to purchase from using their Brentwood Bucks. This has been developed and organised by our students and is a fantastic example of students connecting their learning to real life scenarios. Don’t forget to bring in your Brentwood Bucks to be used on the day.
On Thursday 16th is our second Community Day of the year with more activities for our students to participate in. This day is a casual dress day with students bringing in a gold coin donation that will be used to donate towards the Queensland and New South Wales flood victims. This is another amazing example student leadership and voice with all the activities being organised by our student leaders.
Semester 2 Timetable
On Tuesday 14th June our Semester 2 timetable will begin and students will start in their Semester 2 classes. The timetables are now up on Compass to be viewed by Students and Parents.
