Staff in the Spotlight
With so many staff joining our team this year, we would like to give our school community the opportunity to get to know our new teachers in a fun way. Each week we will be spotlighting a new staff member and sharing with you all sorts of fun and interesting stories about who they are and most importantly, why they became a teacher and what they love most about teaching!
This week we are spotlighting Elise Roper.
Elise has had industry experience working in research and changed vocation to pursue teaching. We are thrilled to have Elise join our staff team as a Learning Specialist and specialises in Environmental Science and Biology!
How long have you been teaching?
This is my sixth year
What school/university or organisation have you come from?
Deakin University
Why did you decide to become a teacher?
After a career in research and diagnostics I wanted to return to the teaching pathway I started when I first went to University and fulfil my desire to become a teacher.
What do you love most about teaching?
I love to learn alongside my students and uncover the latest scientific breakthroughs and what they mean for our world together.
What are three things you would like your students to know about you?
Having the opportunity during COVID to work with a Year 12 students who achieved a 50 study score in Biology.
I am local so you will see me at Knox, I have an Australian Bulldog and I am trying to learn how to ride my eBike so I can ride to school (somedays).
Where's your favourite holiday destination?
Bellarine Peninsula
What are tv show/series did you last binge watch?
Bridgerton - Series 1.
If you could wear Harry's invisibility cloak for one day, where would you go and what would you do?
I would go to Broadway and see as many musicals as I could in the day.
What is the one piece of 'advice' or the one thing that you always say to your students?
Be safe and take care.
