Junior Girls Football

Mother Nature really turned it on for us on Tuesday with the Junior Girls AFL team going out on a perfect Autumn Day to take on Rowville East and Upwey.

The match of the day was between Wantirna and Rowville East, who had beaten Upwey 72-0 in the previous game. Our girls held their own taking a lead into the first quarter break before trailing by just 3 points at halftime!

Unfortunately, our goal kicking boots weren’t on in the third quarter, resulting in an 11-point loss in what was a fantastic display of football. Scout Semple, Ashleigh Britten, Kaitlyn Kos and Emma Freyer did well through the middle of the ground, with Scout having a handy cameo up forward, kicking 2 of our 3 goals for the game.

The girls did very well to back up such a close game with a very convincing win over Upwey after only a 10-minute break to refuel. Olyvia Schultz and Maddison Hill both played a great game, whilst Isabelle Nealy starred with 4 goals up forward.

Thank you to Tayla McMillan and Makayla Schultz in Year 9 for coaching and helping on the day, as well as Ms Bainbridge and Ms Shaw for taking out the team.

Boys Netball

On Tuesday 24th May, the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Boys Netball teams competed at Knox Regional Netball Complex.

Seven teams from Wantirna College competed and represented the school with pride. It was fantastic to see so many students from our school putting their best efforts into every game and supporting each other throughout the day. All age groups had teams win the competition and progress to the next round. Pictured is the A Team for the Intermediate group.
