From the Leadership Team

Launch of our brand new library website

Julia Padgett, Deputy Principal

Kilvington now has a fantastic, brand new library website! Designed by our Library and Digital Resourcing Assistant, Tamara Drazic, the new website aims to support students during each stage of their time at School.

Here's what you can find:

READ ALOUD AND PICTURE BOOKS (STORYBOX LIBRARY) - ELC AND PREP

  • All students, including ELC and Prep, can access the Storybox Library, which has a huge range of picture story books read aloud by Australian authors. You’ll find the login details through the Databases and Subscriptions page.

eBOOKS AND AUDIO BOOKS (WHEELERS LIBRARY) - YEARS 1 AND ABOVE

  • For our prep students and above, Wheelers online ebooks and audio books are available both through the website and the app so you can read on an iPad. Students can access these and the library catalogue using their Kilvington login details.

FICTION, NON-FICTION AND NEW RELEASES - JUNIOR, MIDDLE AND SENIOR SCHOOL

  • Find featured books and new releases in the Read drop-down menu, separated into Junior, Middle and Senior School Fiction and Non-Fiction. Each cover image links through to the catalogue, where students can see if and where the book is available in the library. This page is updated regularly as new books arrive.

WHAT TO READ NEXT - BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS

  • Located in the Read drop-down menu, the newly created What To Read Next function provides parents (and students) with suggestions of what to read next. Here you will find book recommendations from our staff for a range of year levels and genres.

THE ONLINE CATALOGUE

The online catalogue provides students an opportunity to:

  • Reserve books and collect these from the library.
  • Write a review and read how others have rated the book.
  • Keep names of books saved - helpful for when you finish what you are currently reading and are looking for the next option.

CO-CURRICULAR AND UPCOMING EVENTS

  • You can also find information on the writing groups and book clubs in the library under the What's On tab. We look forward to Kilvington Reads in Term 3 as last year’s author workshops and presentations were outstanding. Keep an eye out for upcoming events.

Over the coming weeks and term, students will have dedicated times in the library to have these areas of the website explained in further detail.

The services our library provides are invaluable. We’re fortunate to have dedicated resources online, supported by our library team, available to students no matter where they are.

We can’t wait to move into our new purpose-built centre next year and continue to see the expansion of our digital resources and library facilities.
