Assistant Principal's Report

Term 2: Report

Uniform Changeover

South Oakleigh College has a strong tradition of proudly wearing the school uniform. The beginning of term 2, was the changeover to Winter Uniform and all details can be found in the South Oakleigh College Uniform Policy or on our website. Please ensure our high standards of wearing the correct uniform are maintained every day. If there is any reason why a student is not able to wear the full uniform, parents are to provide a note so a uniform pass may be issued

Keeping up to date through Compass

Important school information for parents and students is published on Compass. News items and payments due (such as for excursions) are published on My News and results and feedback for your child’s main assessments are available under Learning Tasks. Clicking on the Profile link provides access to the student’s timetable, attendance records (including daily attendance) and the Reporting Points (Years 7 - 10) and Progress Reports that were released at the end of Term 1. Parents are urged to check their Compass account at least once a week and to contact the General Office on 95792322, for any issues.

National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)

All students participated in NAPLAN the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy over the last two weeks. The tests focused on basic skills that are administered annually to Australian students. These standardised tests assess students' reading, writing, language and numeracy and are administered by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority.

Breakfast Club

We are running Breakfast Club again this term on Thursdays. It is a great start to the day for any student who wishes to attend.

School Tours

We have been busy hosting College tours every Friday morning since last term. It is always incredibly rewarding to catch a student as they pass by or have one step out of a classroom to describe what they are learning. Our students are always willing to oblige and speak with openness and honesty about life at South Oakleigh College, they share what they are learning and how they manage their own learning. We hear time and again how useful they find lesson plans and the support of their teachers.
