Junior School

It’s been a busy week in the Junior School with our Years 3 and 5 students completing Writing and Reading tests for NAPLAN. Our students have had such a great attitude towards these assessments – trying their best, but keeping a balanced approach and considering these tests one piece of the learning puzzle. Our staff have been amazing – with NAPLAN now online, and with new systems and technology hiccups to navigate, staff have reflected, adapted and cooperated to solve problems…..which is a perfect example of Ad Altiora learning!

Many parents may notice that emails regarding excursions look different. This is because our administration staff are working to connect email notifications about excursions to the Parent Portal, and provide pathways so that parents can sign permissions slips electronically and quickly. We also hope that the summary with QR Code on the front of the email notification will be a helpful quick reference. Parents who haven’t yet connected to the Parent Portal are strongly encouraged to do so, and may call reception for assistance if it’s required.

As reported last week, there have been many changes made to teaching and learning spaces in the Junior School (Wentworth Falls).  Mrs Spohr's Stage 3 Discovery class has moved into a huge double classroom, and the students worked with her to design an exciting "Discovery" environment for inquiring minds.  The classroom set up is a result of the students making collaborative choices on how they might learn best. The students are already enjoying the flexibility the space offers, and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of some equipment to help with inquiry in Science.

May I remind Wentworth Falls parents that there is NO PARKING in the pull in zone in front of the Junior School reception. Parents who are early and need to wait should pull into a designated parking zone in the parking lot below the Early Years classrooms or across the road. The pull in zone is only for a very quick pick up, once children have arrived. We have had cars waiting out on Matcham Avenue and other vehicles trying to access the Senior School are having to go on the wrong side of the road to get past. Staff will regularly check in to keep the traffic moving and thank you in advanceyou’re your cooperation and support.
