IDAHOBIT

May 17

IDAHOBIT Day refers to International Day Against Homophobia, Intersexism and Transphobia. As an inclusive school, we acknowledged this day including a Free Dress Day wearing rainbow colours, and an opt-in Ally Pledge.

An ally is someone who stands with the LGBTQI+ Community in the support of human rights for all, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. Over 300 staff and students signed the Ally Pledge.

The highlight of the day was having our Student Diversity Group participate in the Go Tafe IDAHOBIT Day Celebrations. Our students enjoyed lunch and a variety of activities supported by Greater Shepparton City Council, Latrobe University and Uniting Care.  Some of our students also got the opportunity to be photographed with Mayor Kim O’Keefe. Thanks to our Wellbeing team – in particular adolescent health nurses Mark Metcalf and Raelene Wilson for their organisation and support of the day.
