Across the Principal's Desk

We’re in the final week of Term 2 and therefore close enough to half way through 2019 – another year flying by! It has been fantastic to be operating in the new buildings without construction occurring – a much smoother and less disruptive way of existing in our school. We’re enjoying the new buildings and outdoor spaces but still have some work to do to finish it all off with some painting, landscaping and further development of outdoor spaces required to get it to where we want it to be for the students. I will be consulting with the SRC to explore ideas for outdoor seating and recreation spaces around the grounds.

Government schools undertake a Review every four years to assess their progress against the goals and targets from the previous process and then develop a new Strategic Plan to support improvement for the next four years. Our Review will be conducted in the second half of next term. I’m looking forward to the discussion about our achievements and areas for improvement, which will be followed by setting goals and targets to support future progress. In preparing for the review, I am running focus groups with students, staff and School Council to gather ideas about what worked well over the past four years and what we could have done better. The discussions I have been involved in so far have been very rewarding and it has been terrific to gain different perspectives about our continuous school improvement journey.

In recent weeks, staff have been working hard on finalising assessment for this semester and writing reports. Students have been sitting exams to demonstrate what they have learnt throughout the sememster. Thank you to staff and students for a very solid half-year of work. I wish everyone a relaxing, enjoyable and safe mid-year break and I look forward to seeing you back at school on July 15th.
