CGHS Properties Work

We are currently upgrading the Dome area outside the MPC with shade, seating, pathway and garden beds part of the scope of works to improve this outdoor area as both a playground and learning space. It will also be a school community space whenever events are held in the MPC, improving amenity for BBQs and serving from the MPC kitchen. Along with the small covered walkway from the C block stairwell to the MPC to ensure a covered passageway is available in inclement weather, these works will create new ways for us to interact as a school community. This upgrade is funded by grants as well as through school funding. The P&C has also made generous contributions to our maintenance and upgrade programs in 2019 including new light bars in the MPC, additional ICT in the library and partial funding of new data projectors in classrooms.

Programmed maintenance in 2019 has included selected new flooring, new doors, and an extensive painting scope.  Planned maintenance and upgrades for 2020 include additional classroom furniture, blind replacements (scheduled for January) and to obtain quotes for an outdoor sound system.  We continue to progress he extension of LED lighting for the whole school.

Mr Richard Pulsford has also become our substantive permanent General Assistant. Congratulations to both on their appointment through the merit selection process. Further updates to new 2020 Office staff will be announced when staffing is complete.

We farewell Ms Anna Texeira from the School Learning Support Officer role at the end of 2020 and thank her for the conscientious support she has given a number of specific students with additional learning needs at Canterbury Girls during her SLSO role, as well as in the school office. Ms Lisa Grech who has been a part of the SASS team in 2019 will  also finish up at the end of this year and we thank her for her work in the school library. Finally, Ms Mary Fitsakis who has been working as Science Assistant one day per week will finish up at the end of 2020 from that role. Thank you Ms Fitsakis for your dedicated work in this role and other areas of the SASS team.
