Year 7 Year Adviser

Maati El Hafiane

Term 3 has been a busy and enjoyable Term for all Year 7 students and their teachers. Students have participated in a number of events such as Boys and Girls Group, Walters Road STEM Day, Big History debating, Taloodle Therapy dog sessions, junior boys’ basketball and Sydney West Athletics carnival.

It has been great to see Year 7 students getting involved in a number of initiatives at our school and eager to participate in majority of activities.

Term 4 is shaping up to be a fun and exciting term. Students will be taking part in swim school in Week 7, attending a STEM excursion to Sydney University in Week 6 and myself and Ms Espejel will be organising a BBQ and games afternoon as part of a well-being initiative to reward all Year 7 students on their behaviour and successes so far this year.

Ms Espejel and I are extremely proud of how well the year group gets along and the energy they bring to Evans High School every day.

Hear from a year 7 student...

“Year 7 has been great so far! All the teachers have been amazing and have been helping others and myself through the hardest parts of year 7. My favourite subject has to be Big History because my teacher Mr Murphy has made history fun, enjoyable and explains the tricky stuff well. I love to come to school every day and do the best I can. I’ve made some good friends and if there is a problem or I need help I can always go to any of my teachers or my year adviser.

Year 9 Assistant Year Adviser

Mimi Lam

It has yet again been a busy term for year 9. This term students have been studying away and accomplishing a variety of different assessment tasks across the various key learning areas.

Students have been introduced to the wonderful era of Shakespeare in English, they are putting their minds at work solving problems in Mathematics and learning about various bodily functions in Science! In HSIE, students are all ready to dive into learning about the World Wars after being inspired by the musical '3 weeks in Spring' by Ian Gerrard and Russell Tredinnick.

The Metals class have completed their metal toolbox project. The Foodies presented delicious cultural dishes in Food Technology and there is much excitement in the IST class as students begin to learn how to work with circuitry to create their own remote control car!

Year 9 students should be proud of all their achievements thus far!

A friendly reminder to parents, please ensure that your child is coming to school in the correct uniform. If circumstances arise and they are unable to, please provide them with a note to explain why, this will help communicate the information to their teachers and excuse your child.

Wishing everyone a wonderful spring break!

Year 11 Year Adviser

Year 11 students have undertaken their Yearly Examinations to complete the final requirements of the Preliminary and HSC courses. Year 11 students will be revising key areas and skills which require further development to prepare them for the start of the Year 12 Course next term. Students are asked to reflect on their marks and efforts throughout Year 11 to find areas where they can improve on in their final year.

RYDA Road Safety Excursion at Penrith Lakes has been postponed to Week 3 Wednesday. Students who have already paid their money to the front office will have it roll over for the new date. All students must be in full school uniform on the day and be ready to depart at the front gate by 8:35am. All students will return to school by charter bus before 2:45pm following the excursion. Students are asked to bring their packed recess, lunch and drinks to enjoy a picnic by the lake as a cohort during the break times.

Year 12 Jerseys will be distributed first day back Term 4 as a symbolic transition into their Senior status at Evans High School.
