New Emotional Intelligence Badge for 2020

In the coming days your child will be presented with their new badge on Empathy. They may indeed already have the badge proudly in their possession.

New students to Girton will receive  IMAGINE, REGULATION, PRIME AWARENESS and EMPATHY badges from their teachers in the coming weeks. Perhaps they have already received them. Existing students will only receive the new Empathy badge.

As you may already be aware, we have developed a whole school Emotional Intelligence Charter which is called IMAGINE. To reinforce the importance of this Charter each child in the school receives a badge to identify and replicate the values that we aspire to here at Girton Grammar School.  Students also will focus on regulation and the way this helps determines your reputation. Develop a skill set around self and social awareness. Learn about Empathy and the importance of perspective.

During the year staff will touch on the values of each badge and they will be discussed in classrooms, assemblies and during general interactions with staff and peers. Discussing with your child what their badge means to them is a great start for parents.  If your child loses their badge, a replacement may be purchased at either Junior School or Senior School reception.
