Welcome back to Aitken College.

My Aitken – Parent App

There has been a recent update to the Firefly Parent App that many parents are using to access My Aitken on mobile devices. The updates make details about student homework tasks and assessment results easier to find through a much more thorough filtering system. We will have instructional videos available soon, to demonstrate how to make the best use of the app to help you stay informed about your children’s progress. We will also be running a competition to encourage parents to download and use the parent app – stay tuned for more details coming to your email soon. The prize will be a $100 SchoolTrenz voucher, so it will be worth your while to enter.

The Firefly for Parents app is available in the App store and the Google Play store. Look for this icon:

Make sure you get the aqua-coloured app for parents. (Note that the green one is for students and the darker blue one is for teachers). Once you’ve downloaded the app, enter AITKEN as the school code, then you will be asked to log in with the school credentials sent to parents in January. Please email itsupport@aitkencollege.edu.au if you have any difficulty.

Booklists

A quick update on booklist items and digital resources:

  • Digital textbook access for students in Years 7 to 10 is well underway and most students have now downloaded their digital texts for Science, Mathematics and Humanities. Students who are still having trouble downloading their textbooks should contact itsupport@aitkencollege.edu.au or visit our ICT department support staff in the Library.
  • Digital textbook access for students in Years 11 and 12 needs to be managed by students, using the information supplied to them by the publishers of the texts they have ordered. If they are having trouble, it is possible that the instructions for how to download the texts has been sent to the email address of the person who ordered their books online – in most cases, their parents. Students who need help should contact itsupport@aitkencollege.edu.au or visit our ICT department support staff in the Library to get advice on what their next steps should be.
  • Access to other digital resources paid for via the booklists – such as Mathletics, Reading Eggs and Reading Renaissance in the Primary School, and Language Perfect and Musition/Auralia in the Secondary School – are managed by the Heads of Faculty and Primary Co-ordinators for each subject. Instructions for how to access and use these resources will be explained to students in class.
  • Late arriving hard copy booklist items for Year 11 and 12 students are being managed by Marisa Long. Campion is delivering these items to school each day as they come into stock, and Marisa is distributing them to students. All students should receive all of their late booklist items within the next week or so.
