Simply The Best
On Friday 16 November, Aitken hosted Simply The Best Vol.18; a regional variety concert featuring bands and soloists from four regional schools – Aitken College, Hume Anglican Grammar, Craigieburn Secondary College and Sunbury Downs College.
Students from Year 6 to Year 12 delighted an enthusiastic audience with their amazing performance skills. The standard of the performances was very high and certainly bodes well for the future of music in the region. An audience of 150 people from across the four schools appreciated the work of the students. Planning is already underway for a repeat performance in 2019! Congratulations to all involved.
Kool Skools Awards
The annual Kool Skools Awards Night was held on Sunday 18 November at the Thornbury Theatre. Each year, the Awards Night is held to celebrate the very best tracks recorded as a part of the Kool Skools project that year. In this, Aitken’s first year in the project, we received two nominations and took home one award.
NOMINATION - Best Cover: Isabelle D (Creep)
NOMINATION - Best Rock Track: Cool Bananas (Trojan Horse)
AWARD WINNER - Special Judges Award for a Band: Cool Bananas
Congratulations also to Cool Bananas who were invited to perform on the night. A video of their performance is available on the College Facebook page. If you have not done so already, download Lifeblood on iTunes, GooglePlay or Spotify.
Cumberland Concert
The excitement is building for this year’s Cumberland Concert, 'You’re the Voice'. As always, there are sure to be a few surprises when the 180 students from Years 3-5 take to the stage on Tuesday 27 and Thursday 29 November. If you are yet to make your booking or have decided that you require more tickets, there are 200 tickets remaining and those who need more, may now book above the six allocated.
Instrumental Music Enrolments
Students who have been taking private instrumental lessons should have brought home an Enrolment Form for 2019 lessons by now. Many forms are rolling in and places are filling up. Please get the intention forms back in before the end of this year so we can negotiate availability with the tutors. If you leave it until next year, we cannot guarantee a place as many of the tutors also work at other schools. If you have not received a form or are interested in signing your child up for lessons for the first time, additional forms are available from the school office or online through My Aitken.
