Out and About

Unit 1 Outdoor Ed. and VET sport and recreation: Wilson's Prom. surf camp 2018

Students in the Unit 1 Outdoor Ed and VET sport and recreation classes set off to Wilson's Prom. for a four-day trip from the 1st - 4th of May. Students started with a 25 km round trip to either Sealers Cove or Little Waterloo Bay. This distance challenged the students but the views on arrival were well worth the grind. Students were involved in two surfing session which provided perfect conditions enabling everyone to achieve their goal of standing up. SUPing (Stand-Up Paddling) down Tidal River was very relaxing and gave the students time to reflect on the special environment around them. Three of the four days provided perfect walking, surfing and SUPing weather. In the last 24hrs the heavens opened, soaking most of the tents and a bit of gear the students had left out overnight. Thanks to all the staff involved. This was one of the best Wilson's Prom. trips yet.

Year 10 Food for Design class visit to Mackrell Meats

On Thursday  10th of May my class braved the cold and rain to walk to Mackrell Meats, Echuca, and speak to one of the butchers at the business, Troy. The class had prepared a set of questions to ask Troy which ranged from ‘How do you gain a competitive advantage?’ to ‘What cut of meat is the most popular?’. Troy gave the class lots of interesting information that they can use in their upcoming exam. His knowledge of meat products was incredible and he we all learnt a lot from this valuable experience.
