Principal's Report

Prep Information Evening

What an exciting day it was on Monday when our new 2019 Prep students visited as a part of their orientation program.  The parent evening was also a major success with most families in attendance.  Thanks to Miss Nonie Kay, Miss Laura Zeeng, Mrs Yvette Porter, Mrs Cathy Ferrari, Miss Michelle Hill and Mr Nigel Rodrigues for organising and assisting at the evening session.  I can confirm our 2019 Prep teachers will be Miss Kay and Miss Zeeng.  I would also like to give a personal thanks to the four Year 6 students - Jemma B, Jack M, Chloe A and Oliver B for speaking to the parents about their time at St. Finbar's.  We have some very gifted public speakers at St. Finbar's School!

School Board AGM and P&F AGM

The school board AGM will be held on Tuesday 20th November and the P&F AGM will be held on Tuesday 27th November.  I would like to thank everyone involved in these 2 important groups that look after our community in many ways.

Assembly Presentation for Remembrance Day

On Monday we had a special visit from Charles Winter who is a WW2 veteran.  Charles shared his experiences being on a naval ship that was torpedoed and sank during the war.  Thanks to Melissa Parente-Cowling for organising Charles to visit us and share his extraordinary life story.

Leadership Expo

I would like to congratulate our Year 6 Students for their amazing leadership expo held a few weeks ago.  The Year 5 students were very well informed of the leadership opportunities that are available to them next year.  Well done to Mrs Howell and Miss McCurdy for their organisation in the background of this event.

Parent - End of year Christmas Party

Please ensure you have locked in the date for our parent end of year party which will be held on Saturday 1st December at True South in Black Rock.  See further information in the P&F section of the newsletter.

Facebook information and Seesaw

Don't forget to follow us on Facebook to see all of the current activities that happen here at school.  It is also a great way for Grandparents and special friends to keep in touch.  Seesaw is also an excellent way to digitally follow your child/ren's learning activities.

Pre-School Story Time

Today was our first Pre-School Story time which was held in the Library.  Thanks to Miss Kay who ran this weeks' session.  Please see further in the newsletter for future dates.  All are welcome!

Christmas Carols

This year we will be having the Christmas Carols out on our new AstroTurf area on the Mary Clare Playground on Wednesday 5th December.  It will be a picnic style event with all classes performing 2 items as per previous years, as well as performances from the School Choir and the Ukulele Club .  There will be food vans on the asphalt area available from 5pm and as per all school events where parents and children are in attendance, it will be a 'dry' event.  The Carols program will begin at 6pm.  There will be a flier in next weeks' newsletter with more information.

Welcome!

Welcome to Christian B (Year 4J) who has joined us recently.  I hope your time with us here at St. Finbar's is rewarding.

God Bless,

Pat Berlingeri
