‘Great things never came from comfort zones.’
The Junior Girls sadly bid farewell to Ms T and then had to face the unknown as to who would be their supervisor. This is a difficult thing for boarders to deal with especially when they have spent such wonderful times together.
Each day they have provided guidance and empathy for the fill in supervisor which has been greatly appreciated.
Being a boarder brings an opportunity to develop understanding and empathy as the girls deal with being away from home and living in community. This has been evident during this time of change.
The past two weeks have been filled with activities, homework and in some dorms, dancing! It is still a challenge to remember the COVID-19 restrictions in the house, including not being piled into one room all together to watch a video. To their credit, the girls have been accepting of the lack of ‘street leave’.
A quick reminder that any food the girls bring to the boarding house should be in containers or sealed bags to keep their rooms clean.
Each day we all continue to grow and change and the acceptance of this fact makes the difficult times easier and develops the ability to look towards the future with a sense of excitement.
Ms Robin Bussenschutt
Acting Junior Girls' Supervisor
The Junior Girls have had an eventful two weeks, adjusting well to changes with Ms Tassell's departure and Ms Robin Bussenschutt stepping in and ensuring that the girls still feel comfortable and at home. I have enjoyed working with Ms Bussenschutt and the girls.
Students have really enjoyed the activities that Activities Officer Mr Siegwalt has had in store for them this week, designing and making their own cups as well as the outside activities at the multipurpose courts; when the sun finally came out. We saw some well designed mugs especially from Lucy Cleton, Macey Gooden, Jasmin Robinson and Lucy Pearce.
The Year 10 girls have been involved in some intense study especially for Science, PDHPE and Mathematics this week.
Jordyn, Alice and Annabelle have been doing group workout sessions getting fit and ready as the Football and Netball season comes to a close. The rain during the past two weeks has made it hard to get outside to exercise.
The snow fall in some boarders' home towns over the past recent weekend made for an exciting time for some of the students, allowing them to create snowmen and sledding for the first time this year. There were many stories and photos to share when they returned to Mount Erin for the new school week.
Ms Annika Brown
Supervisor
We are at the midpoint of the term with the Junior Boys rearing to go for the remaining half of Term 3. With both Terms 1 and 2 interrupted by the COVID-19 Pandemic the boys have shown great resolve and resilience so far in Term 3 and are keen to finish the term on a positive note.
In Week 4 of this Term each Junior Boarder moved rooms which went very smoothly.
