Letter regarding school cleaning

I would like to assure the community that I attended the briefing with DET representatives prior to the cleaning and was also present with the DET representative to review the outcome of the clean. The post clean review was comprehensive, and our classrooms are much cleaner since this process.

School Supervision - Week 1, Term 3 (No updated change)

As mentioned by Daniel Andrews, schools in metropolitan Melbourne will be starting term three as a 'Pupil Free' week. Teachers and other staff will be at school, but students are not to be at school for the whole week. Only those students where parents identify as essential service workers may send their child/ren to school. If parents are requesting supervision then they must complete the on-line form on the school's website; even those parents who have already made a request via email to the school. A notification was also sent out via Sentral on Thursday.

Temperature checks (No updated change)

Daily temperature checks will be enforced as announced by the Minister Merlino. If a child presents with a temperature of 37.5 or above, parents or carers will be requested to collect the child immediately.

The child cannot return to school until a Covid-19 test has been completed and the school has been informed of the results. If a test result is not provided to the school then the child/ren will be requested to self isolate for 14 days and the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) will be notified, as well as the Department of Education & Training (DET) . This action will also include the children of essential service workers.

Remote Learning (No updated change)

At this stage it is only speculation on the part of the media and others in the community. I cannot confirm or deny we will be going into remote learning starting week two of term three. As a precaution for the possibility we may return, the teachers will be using the week to prepare for a return to remote learning-they are not on holidays.

Drop off and Pick-up - Week 1 (No updated change)

At the this stage we will assemble all students, who must return to school on the basketball court. Likewise this will also be the procedure at the end of the day.

Essential workers (No updated change)

The Premier's message has been consistent-'If you can work from home, do so'. As we have learnt more and more about this virus we know we can't take risks. While we all appreciate the stress' and strains many families will be experiencing, we need everybody to be considerate of teachers and school staff (our other essential front line service  workers), other students and of course our parents and carers.

So for all concerned please work from home we need everybody healthy and safe as soon as possible.

Pupil Free Week

First Week - Term Three

Monday,13/07/2020- Friday,17/07/2020

How quickly things can change in 24 hours. We will be commencing the new term as a Pupil Free Week. This is  not something we wanted nor expected when we finished Term Two, but we are back to where we were in term two remote learning - unconfirmed at this stage.

If you have made alternative arrangements for your child/ren to be cared for on the Monday we would really appreciate it if you didn't change these arrangements. Currently the teachers can not access the school due to the school requiring a deep clean, which will be completed on Friday.

Remainder of the First Week

Tuesday 14/07/2020-Friday 17/07/2020

ESSENTIAL SERVICE WORKERS

As we are now in Stage three lock down we need to respond to those parents and carers who are deemed 'ESSENTIAL SERVICE WORKERS'. We will as we did last term provide Out of Hours Care for those workers only, and only if required. This will also include before school care as well as after school care.

If parents need for their child/ren to be supervised due to being an essential services worker, please complete the form, which can be accessed on the front page of the school's website.

We need this information by Sunday 12/07/2020. Please do not expect care will be provided without first notifying the school of your need.

Reminder, if we suspect your child is unwell we will refuse to accept your child at school and before and after care, our decision will be final.
