Making BSC a more colourful place, one artwork at a time

We continue to work on making our school colourful and inspiring – both inside and out. Visitors to our school frequently comment on the positive and welcoming atmosphere they experience at Beaufort Secondary College and we constantly strive to keep building on what we already have.

Students in the Hands On Learning group recently completed some sculptures which will be placed in the new lawn area. The students are going to build a garden bed around the sculptures, which will give them a safe ‘home’. Artist, Annie Younger, who has a gallery in Burrumbeet, gave us a tour of her amazing sculpture garden, which gave the boys loads of ideas. They then designed their pieces, Annie made them come to life, and our students painted them. They are a colourful and quirky addition to our yard! We are extremely grateful to Annie for being such a brilliant mentor to our ‘Hands On’ class.

Our corridor murals continue to grow and everyone who enters the Front Office area will now be greeted by more of artist, Margot Bagnall’s, work. The mural is a wonderfully welcoming artwork, which has been positively received by all members of our school community.

We hope to be able to do further work with both Annie and Margot in the future.

Both of the above projects would not have been possible without the generous funding support provided by Waubra Wind Farm – ACCIONA. As a large organisation in our community, they value the smaller organisations and groups around them and we feel fortunate to have been successful with our applications for these two projects, which have been extremely beneficial to our whole community. Thank-you, ACCIONA!
