Across the Principal's Desk

We have started Semester Two in a smooth manner, with our staff and students returning in good form after a very well-deserved break. Last term was certainly one of the most unusual times most people will have experienced. We still have the challenges that COVID-19 is presenting in Victoria and worldwide. We knew that it wasn’t going to be over and done with quickly but it’s been very hard to predict what might happen next and that has affected people in so many different ways. Our students seem to be quite settled at school – maybe there is some sense of appreciation that they can be at school given that students in Years 7-10 in Melbourne are undertaking Remote Learning. Our staff members have been amazing throughout and continue to provide the support to our students with their learning and, importantly, their wellbeing. It is a challenging time for everyone but I really respect the way in which our school community is managing in our current situation.

We have continued to work through our curriculum and provide our students with the best possible conditions for learning. We have also continued to improve our physical environment, with an update of the entrance to our school thanks to local landscaper, Greg Belden. He’s done an amazing job in bringing the area back to life with a design that includes pathways, garden beds and seating. Thanks, Greg! We have also had some creative work done by some of our Hands On Learning students with an artist from Burrumbeet. We now have some amazing sculptures to add to the aesthetics of school. Thanks to Ms Moore, Mr Hooper and Mr Watling for their work on this project which has achieved so many positive outcomes beyond the artworks themselves. We have great things happening in our school community and we look forward to the second half of the year unfolding. Stay safe.
