Remote Learning 2.0

We have now commenced another round of remote learning, as part of the Stage 3 restrictions for regional Victoria.  My sincere thanks and appreciation on how our students, staff and families adapted to the decision by the Government and the speed in which we moved from on site to remote learning.

The school has a dedicated website for any information associated with remote learning, which can be accessed here.  As updates occur, we will post information on this site, as well as through Compass, and on our social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.).

Compass is our number one location for student lessons, communication between students and teachers and between teachers and parents.  Please make sure your child is logging into their Compass Portal every day.  The school will continue to follow the normal school timetable.  The process is very simple:

  • student logs into Compass
  • clicks on the subject in their daily schedule
  • the instructions for that lesson will appear in the lesson plan, including any links to external sites etc.

Parents/guardians can see exactly the same when they log in to their parent portal.

Any Webex (video classes) classes - teachers will send invites to students via their school provided email address (xyz@schools.vic.edu.au).

Roll Marking during Remote Learning

Students are expected to be in regular contact with their teachers during remote learning. This can occur through:

  • sending emails to their teachers
  • participating in Webex classes
  • participating in Class Discussions through Compass Discussions (new feature)
  • submitting work

Teachers will mark their class rolls when they have had contact from the student. A minimum of one communication per week per subject is expected.  When teachers have had engagement/communication with the student, they will be marked present on the roll for that subject for the week. If there is no engagement from the student with their class teacher, they will be marked absent.

Communication is vital.  The school will regularly contact all families to ensure that all supports are in place to assist all students and families as best we can during this period of remote learning.  Please contact the school if we can help in any way.

Positive Engagement Expectations

Our values and expectations are equally as important during remote learning as they are when in the classroom.  Below is a matrix of expectations.  Please support your child's learning, and the learning environment of other students by talking through this matrix with your child and ensuring that they model these positive expectations during all school interactions.

Please follow the instructions of the Chief Health Officer and the Government, keep safe and help to keep our community safe.
