News from the ARTS, PE and Mandarin.

Grade 3 students have been weaving with paper. For the first week of this project students created a warm coloured artwork and a cool coloured artwork. Students could choose any medium to create these abstract artworks. Many used paint, some used pencil or texta. In the following week, students learnt about weaving terminology as they cut up their abstract paintings to make looms and wefts to create their weaves. The results have been spectacular! Well done Grade 3.

AKtive Games Mascot Designs

Students had the opportunity to design a mascot for Mr Kelly’s AKtive Games. They learnt about Olympic mascots, including the chosen design for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Students were asked to think about what features the Malvern Primary School mascot should have to represent the AKtive Games. What would it look like and why? Here some wonderful designs from Prep and Grade 1. Watch this space for more designs from other year levels.

“This is my mascot Sporty. He wants kids to have fun when they do sport. He has got green fingers, face and shorts for Green House (my house). His blue logo says Sporty and is for Malvern Primary school uniform colours.” – Harry M PCB

“I was inspired to create this mascot because we have been learning about Space. Yodi is a descendant of Yoda from Star Wars. I chose green and gold colours because they represent Australia.” – Caleb L PSS
