Nursery 2

Toy-rescue
The planned experience, "Toy-rescue" was welcomed by children and thoroughly enjoyed. Educators, Manjula and Chandra stuffed a big plastic crate with plush toys and tangled woolen threads on the top to stay like a net over the toys. Children were challenged to pull the toys out of the net and rescue all of them. They were unsure at the beginning, but soon worked-out how to drag the plush toys out of the net. Nursery 2 s had to work as a team and use their fine motor skills, problem solving skills and creativity to accomplish this task.
Activities for hand eye co-ordination and early numeracy skills
scooping out objects with spoons and filling them to containers and topping-up empty egg cartons with colorful blocks were two activities we engaged in during these two weeks. Children showed a keen interest to get involved in these activities and their emerging self-regulation skills were visible through-out the experiences. Nursery 2 s scooped-up the little objects cleverly and managed to put them through a narrow hole of a bottle with improving competence.
Educator and the children counted the colorful block pieces as they filled the empty egg carton spaces with them. Educator used the blocks in each carton to make necklaces and children appreciated their new look with the necklaces around their necks, in the mirror.
Foot steps on the moon sand
Moon-sand made out of flour and oil has a nice texture to feel with fingers. Nursery 2 children had a sensory experience with moon sand last week. They allowed the toy farm animals to place their foot-prints over the moon sand during the activity. After playing sometime with the animals, children used their hands to feel the crumbly nature of the moon sand. Educators extended this play experience by providing spoons to scoop and little containers to mould the moon sand by pressing it in to the containers and make various shapes.
Colourful snails
This activity was a combination of painting and crafting. First step was to paint the patterns of the snail shell on a paper. Children painted their blank papers with various patterns and colors. Later educators cut circles out of them to make the snail shells. Children watched their painting being crafted in to a snail.

We have sent invitations to all parents for our new planning app "Story Park." Please check your mail inbox and respond to the invitations in order to access your child's learning and development journey with us.
There are few children in the Nursery 2 room, who are eligible to move-up levels to Junior toddler's room for the third term. Educators will contact the relevant parents in near future and let them know about the process and transition.
Thanks
