In the Pre-Kinder room we have been continuing with our acknowledgement to county.
Here is the Land, Here is the Sky
Here are my friends and here am I
We thank the people for the land on which we learn and play
Hands up, Hands Down
We're on Bunarong and Wondjuri land.
On Monday we had a special treat of a Polaroid camera being brought into the center, the children really enjoyed the opportunity to be able to watch the photos develop and see their images come to live. We took photos of the children posing with their friends, eating morning tea and even enjoying some free play.
The children where careful with their images and took them around to show their friends and educators in other rooms.
This week we experimented with Glitter. The children in the Pre-Kinder room where creating some lovely glitter works but they where getting really disappointed when they moved their paper and all of their glitter fell off.
So together we thought of an experiment where we could all see what we needed to put down to make the Glitter stick we tried;
1. Texta
2. Crayon
3. Paint
4. PVA Glue
Each of the children Hypothesized whether the glitter would stick or not before hand
After we completed our experiment the children each tried on their own to see if they where able to make their glitter stick to their pages.
On Friday we experimented with colors, we added food dye to water and used paint droppers to make bubbles on a piece of foam, the children mixed the colors together. They where able to identify that mixing blue and yellow would make green and mixing blue and red would make purple.
The children used their fine motor skills to make the droppers work and had to problem solve how to make the bubbles keep their round shape.
Firstly Naomi and myself would like to thank the parents for their response to the email sent recently, we appreciate the children coming equipped for their outdoor play everyday.
We would also like to remind parents to please Accept the invitations to Story park, as we will be moving to this new programming software on Monday the 16th of July and all daily journals, observations and plans will be uploaded onto this new program.
This program also as the ability to post what you are up to at home so we can share with the children, this may be cooking dinner, doing a puzzle or simply snuggled up on the couch.
We understand that it is sometime difficult to feel connected with what your children do at care so we hope this new program can make you feel like you where there throughout the day!
Thank You Sarah and Naomi
