Principal's Notes

Dear families,

Another week has flown by and we are heading into our fifth week of school next week. Our Foundation students have enjoyed their last Wednesday off and now will be at school every day.  Miss Gray will be away next Monday and Tuesday completing her last two days of her Sounds Write training and then on personal leave for the remainder of the week. Mrs Bell and Mrs Murray will be teaching her class in her absence.

Cavendish Primary School is part of the Southern Grampians Small Schools Association. As a group, we run swimming, track and field and cross country events for our students to compete in at a district level.  These events are only for students in Year 3/4/5/6.  All the schools that are involved in SGSSA are located in the Hamilton area – Dunkeld Consolidated School, Tarrington Lutheran School, St Joseph’s Penshurst, Penshurst Primary School, Branxholme and Wallacedale Community School and Macarthur Primary School.

School Council

At last week’s meeting the following policies were approved - Electronic Funds Management, Cash Handling & Parent Payment Arrangements. Annual policy renewal of Anaphylaxis and Asthma were presented as well. All these policies are available on the school website for your reading. Other items that were discussed were the approval of the 2023 budget and the possibility of holding a working bee to complete some minor garden works, to clean out the old mower shed and some small maintenance work around the school. We will advise you of a date as it soon as it has been confirmed. The working bee would be for a Sunday morning for a few hours.

Little Athletics

Next Tuesday the Years 4/5/6 class will be heading into Mitchell Park for a skills session in athletics run by the Hamilton Little Athletics Club coaches. The students will rotate around 4 different activities for 30 minutes each - high jump, long jump, throwing events (shotput/discus) and track (hurdles/sprints). We will be travelling on Cavendish Coaches and leaving school at 12.25pm and returning back just in time for the 3.30 dismissal.

Simon Thomas and Paul Coates have kindly offered to assist in setting up equipment, raking the long jump pits, returning the shotputs etc.

Parents Club

Our Parents Club held their AGM & General Meeting on Friday 10th February.  On behalf of the Cavendish Primary School we would like to welcome the new office bearers and new members for 2023.  We would also like to thank and acknowledge the previous office bearers for their commitment and work in these roles.  We are very fortunate to have so many of our parents willing to help with our little school community.
