Positive Education

Lynda Hudson

Welcome Back

Starting your first or another year of school is an exciting time and is hopefully one that you can look back on with fondness. You are taking a step to creating new friendships and enriching your mind.

So as we go on these new adventures together in 2023 it is timely to remind ourselves of a couple of useful tips to help boost our wellbeing and maintain each new day starting with a positive mindset.

Be Kind - Simply brightening up someone else’s day can not only bring joy to them but will certainly bring joy to you as well.

Keep Active - Being active can do so much for one's own mood. It’s great for your physical health and can assist in reducing any potential stressors.

Sleep Well - Sleep helps to repair and restore our bodies and our minds. It allows you to think more clearly and do better at school and at work.

Focus on Strengths - Having positive thoughts can help you feel better, leading you to be more productive with your work, giving you a sense of accomplishment each day.

Set Goals - Take the time to set goals for yourself to ensure you keep on track. Using the SMART method is a great way to help push you further and give you a sense of direction. Students in Years 7-10 had the opportunity this week to work with their Clan Teachers to set goals and it will be wonderful to hear the conversations occur next week with families and Clan teachers around these goals.

Lastly, a valuable resource we recommend you review throughout the year is SchoolTV. This is a highly valuable online platform located on our College website that aims to inform families and educators of the challenges that children are facing and give strategies on how best to support them to be happy and resilient youth.

In the words of Dr Seuss,

You’re off to great places, today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!
