Mount Carmel College has enjoyed a strong relationship with the Japanese city of Yaizu, Hobart's sister city.

With this weekend's Australian Wooden Boat Festival, there are a few activities and events taking place in Hobart which celebrate the friendship between the two cities.

Douglas Brooks – Japanese Riverboat workshop.

Douglas Brooks is the pre-eminent authority on the design, construction and cultural significance of Japanese wooden boat building and the traditions that surround it. He will be at the Wooden Boat Festival with the boat that was built at Franklin.
