Canteen Volunteers

In order to keep our canteen running at its best, we rely on the generous support of volunteers from our College community. Volunteering in our canteen provides a wonderful opportunity to be part of your child’s school life and get to know the staff and students your child shares so much of their time with.

We welcome mums, dads, grandparents, carers etc. Unfortunately toddlers/children are not permitted in the Canteen due to health & safety regulations. To ensure the safety of our students, volunteers are required to present a current Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) check to the College Office.

Our Canteen operates 5 days a week and volunteers are required from 10am until 1.30pm. You may wish to volunteer once a week, once a month or once a term. Any amount of time you give us is a valuable resource for the College and is sincerely appreciated.

No experience is necessary. Our Canteen Manager, Tania Saville, will guide you through the preparation of lunches and the serving of over-the-counter purchases.

If you would like to be part of the Canteen team, please contact the College Office between 8.30am and 1.30pm and ask to speak to Tania.

Online Lunch Orders

A reminder to all parents and carers to update their student's details on the Qkr! app so that there is no confusion when it comes time to collecting their lunch orders.

It is as simple as opening the app as if you are placing an order - click on the "Profiles" tab - change the year level of your student(s).

For families new to our community, the Qkr app allows lunches to be ordered and paid for easily and in advance. All orders must be placed prior to 9.00am daily.

Full details on how to download and use the app, along with the canteen menu, can be found on our website.

School Photos

School and family photos will be taken on Friday 17 February.  Please ensure that on the day your daughter or son wear their formal uniform to school, hair tied back with appropriate hair accessories and uniform requirements regarding make up and jewellery are adhered to. All students will have an individual photo taken on Photo Day regardless if they are ordering or not.

If students have HPE, Dance, STRIVE or a subject that requires sport uniform to be worn, they bring this uniform to school and change into it as required.

Some Primary may miss their Dance lesson due to photo scheduling and Year 8 students are to change into their sport uniform at lunchtime in readiness for STRIVE.

Family Photos

Parents and carers who wish to order Family Photos can the use the same Access Key: WTGVYY44.

Family Photo orders must be completed by 4:30pm on Thursday 16 February. Any Family Photos that have not been ordered before the cut-off will not be taken. Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions on the day.

Individual student ordering will stay open after Photo Day.

Literacy Volunteers

In 2023, the College is committed to furthering Literacy Learning and introducing more ways that we can support our students' learning.

We are putting the call out for family and friends of the College who would like to volunteer some of their time to work with our Early Years students (Prep to Year 2) with their reading. Volunteers will read with a variety of students and work with small groups, following teacher directions.

Volunteers will be required for reading in our morning block (any time between 9am-10.40am). We are flexible and more than happy to work with days that best suit you on a schedule that works for you (ie: weekly, fortnightly, monthly or occasionally).

If you are interested, we would love to hear from you. Please contact our Literacy Practice Leaders, Nicola Smith via email: nicola.smith@mountcarmel.tas.edu.au or call the College Office on 6216 7900.

SEQTA Engage

Parents and carers of students new to the College, and any parent/carer who has not previously created a SEQTA account, were sent an email this week  with a link to create a SEQTA Engage account. The link can be used for a week. If you need any assistance in setting up this account, please contact the College.

The College encourages all parents to engage with the SEQTA portal to assist with information flow between school and home, as well as assist parents to keep informed of what their daughter is studying.

In coming weeks parents will be provided with further information to assist with interpreting feedback students are given.

More information on SEQTA Engage and a useful resource can be found on the College website by clicking on the following link:

School Fees

An account statement has been emailed to all families via EdSmart. The invoice shows the total charges for the full year, with the monthly instalment calculated by the total divided by 10.

It is important that all families arrange a payment plan for their school fees so they don’t fall behind. If you are experiencing problems with your fees, please contact either Mrs Kerrie Loveluck, the Business Manager, or the Principal to make alternative arrangements.

An early bird discount of $100 per student is available if your account is paid in full prior to March 31.

Any queries regarding your fees can be emailed to accounts@mountcarmel.tas.edu.au or telephone 6216 7900.

The Smith Family Saver Plus

The Smith Family Saver Plus program supports families with Back to School costs.

Over 55,000 Australians have saved $27 million and ANZ has provided more than $23 million in matched savings through Saver Plus.

Saver Plus increases people’s financial confidence and strengthens their financial skills.

85% of our past participants said they’re better prepared to manage environmental changes (such as cost of living pressures or unexpected bills) since completing Saver Plus.

Participants are paired with a savings coach and make regular deposits towards an agreed goal over a 10-month period. They attend online workshops to learn tips, tricks and information to grow their budgeting and savings skills. Once they reach their agreed goal, ANZ matches their savings dollar-for-dollar up to $500.

The money from Saver Plus can be used towards education costs such as uniforms, text books, laptops, camps and extra-curricular activities such as sport or music.
