Principal’s Message

Great to see

As the Principal I am always out and about watching and listening to ensure that everyone is safe, and everyone has the opportunity to learn.

So far it has been great to see everyone in uniform, staff attendance so high, manners being used at the canteen line, students wisely accessing shade in the heat, specialist teachers offering extra out of hours classes, classes having fun, parents supporting Fun Day preparations and calm classroom environments.

I will keep an eye out next week!

First Aid Training

On Tuesday night all the PPPS staff were involved in either CPR training or Level Two First Aid, as we continue to ensure your children are cared for in the best possible way.

Dogs in the School Grounds

Lately we have encountered incidents where families have chosen to bring pets into the school grounds during drop off and pick up times. It is important to understand that whilst many children are confident around dogs, others are not. Please be conscious of all members of our community when choosing where to walk your dog.

Obviously, the size and temperament of the animal can also determine how others feel. The other factor is my responsibility to ensure the safety of all students from 8:45am until 3:45pm.

If you do have an animal on the premises, please refrain from allowing students to pat the pet unless they have a parent in attendance to provide consent. Our own school dog, Millie is at school twice a week, working with a range of students. Mille is trained to do such work, as is her owner, Ms Tennent.

Road rules around the school

The City of Whittlesea has received various complaints from members of our school community about the ignoring of road rules when parents are waiting for pick up at 3:30pm.

The council has informed us that they will be in attendance over the next few weeks to enforce the rules and issue fines if necessary. We do understand that parking is limited at the moment due to building works. If possible, please park a little further away and make the walk to PPPS or arrive slightly later at 3:40pm for pick up when most of the traffic has moved on.  Our school has access to the council's carpark in Telopea Park, which is adjacent to our sports ground.  There are lots of vacant spots there.

PMP

Every Friday our new Prep students attend a Perceptual Motor Program with Mr Scanu and Mr Falcone. We have 40 students in the 2pm session and 40 in the 2:40pm session. PMP involves a range of stations where students, balance, climb, catch, kick and roll.

To facilitate an exemplary program, we rely on parent volunteers to oversee each station. In the first week we had two parents assisting. This grew to four in the second week. Ideally six adults to help would be fantastic. If you can help on a Friday, please let us know!

Assembly

Please note that we have a Year 1 to Year 6 assembly this Monday morning at 9:10am. Parents are very welcome. Our choir will be performing.

Regards,
