STUDENT LEADERSHIP 2020

We are well into this exciting and nerve racking time of the year. This week is action packed with all our 2020 student leadership elections. On Tuesday - 10th December, we commenced the School elections with our School Captain 2020 speeches. Prior to the speeches, all applicants went through an interview process with Mrs Rose, Miss Jo as well as current School Captains and applied with a written expression of interest. All students who applied are commended for their bravery in putting themselves forward for this process. We are very proud of you all!

The shortlisted six students for School Captain presented a short speech on “What would make you a good School Captain” and the election was run by our current School Captains. It was a wonderful process demonstrating student agency and all applicants delivered terrific speeches: Izzy, Wynn, Noah B, Max, Ella and Annabel.

All students in Foundation to Grade 5 completed a ballot paper and the votes are now being counted. We will share the outcome of all student leadership positions next week.

LIGHT AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY...

What a year it’s been in Art: Ripper Art; Glen Eira Council Exhibition; ceramics; a fashion parade and Miss Zoe finished a Master’s degree.

"It’s safe to say my creative ideas are rather dry and in need of weeding, watering, cultivating and recharging." Miss Zoe

Thanks to all students for being incredible artists this year, taking on new challenges and new approaches to art making. The engagement level was very high and students continually amazed us every week with their ideas and discussions.

Don’t forget about the Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring exhibitions at NGV and for anyone heading interstate be sure to visit the MCA in Sydney – the Corneliar Parker exhibition has had great reviews and the Picasso/Matisse exhibition at NGA in Canberra has just opened.

In case you missed the action last Wednesday – enjoy the photos from the ‘Nothing New’ Year 5/6 Graduation Fashion Festival.
