ATTICA ADVENTURE

"Do you know one of our top restaurants in Australia?

ATTICA!

Believe it or not it's only a few streets away. 12 year 4's (including Ruby) were in invited by the owner of Attica (Ruby's dad) Ben to come and cook! First, we got a tour of the place and got to meet another chef. Secondly, we made a sweet cheesy mite scroll with their own vegemite that they make every day with their secret ingredients. Then, we cooked a luxurious pesto pasta with basil and greens from our healthy and fresh garden here at school. soon after our food was all cooked, we got ready to have our personally made pesto pasta and cheesy mite scrolls. Adding on with our meal we had finger lime cordial. As a special surprise we got a treat from a machine and we got to pick between compost candy (edible), some 'pork' chips and some jellies. If there is one word I would use to describe Attica it would be FANCY!

I would like to say thank you to Mrs Rose for taking us there, and Ben Shewry for using his time and making this possible!"

RUBY'S VISIT WITH FRIENDS

"My Dad Ben and I invited 12 kids to Attica. To start the day, we picked some greens from the Ripponlea primary school garden that I helped plant with my school mates and my Dad. We packed our snacks and walked with Mrs Rose for 15 Minutes to Ripponlea where Attica is located.

When we got there, we were introduced to Dad and Phil, who is an Attica sous chef. They talked about how Attica runs and all the different nationalities that work there. There are people representing more then 18 different countries. Then we had a tour of the restaurant. We saw lots of tables, the kitchens, the office, the bar and we met lots of different people including Thelma who opened the door for us. Thelma sets up the dinning room.

We started making food in the pastry kitchen. Firstly, we made Attica's famous vegemite scrolls.  We got some dough, rolled it out to a snake shape. Then we put the vegemite on and then we got some cheese and sprinkled lots of it on. Lastly, we carefully rolled it up. Then we steamed it. After that we started making our main course - pesto pasta. First, we made the pesto with greens from our garden, basil, pine nuts, garlic, parmesan and olive oil. Then we tossed it through hot pasta.

We sat down in the Attica dinning room and ate our main course and Kylie made us a special drink - finger lime cordial. Then Phil brought us our vegemite scrolls. We made enough for the teachers to eat too!

After lunch, we got to go to the Attica vending machine in the back garden. We had to insert an Attica coin, then a light came on and we got to choose a treat out of the vending machine. we all said thank you and walked back to school.

I loved showing all my classmates because I've always wanted to come to Attica with my friends and show them what it's like to eat at Attica. It made me very proud!"
