2019 Presentation Ball

The St John’s Regional College Presentation Ball is an annual event previously run by our Parents and Friends Association (PFA). The PFA is not in a position to run the Presentation Ball for 2019.

Our current year 10 students have been advised that the PFA are not able to organise the Presentation Ball for 2019 and we have requested that they give some indication if they are interested in being part of the Presentation Ball and also if their parents or guardians would be able to be a part of a Presentation Ball Committee. A past member of the PFA is willing to be involved in a meeting with the Presentation Ball Committee to help them start the process for 2019.

In the unlikely event that we get limited student interest or no parental support for the Presentation Ball Committee we would have to consider the option that the Presentation Ball will not run for our year 11 students in 2019.

The Presentation Ball has been a very successful event for the College students for many years and it would be a shame for it not to take place so we are asking that you speak with your children to see if they are interested and consider whether you are also able to help in any way.

Thunderstorm Asthma

As we are approaching summer, we would like to remind you of the potential of an epidemic thunderstorm asthma event and assist you in preventing any cases arising.

Every year between October and December there is an increase in asthma and hay fever symptoms. During grass pollen season there is also the chance of an epidemic thunderstorm asthma event.

Those at increased risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma include people with asthma, people with a past history of asthma, people with undiagnosed asthma (those who have asthma symptoms but have not yet been diagnosed with asthma), and people with hay fever who may or may not have asthma. Having both asthma and hay fever, as well as poor control and self-management of asthma, increases the risk.

Important steps you can take to prepare for Thunderstorm Asthma are:
