SOUTH MELBOURNE DISTRICTS FOOTBALL

NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL FOR PORT MELBOURNE

A new secondary school is being constructed in Port Melbourne and we would like the community to provide us with input into possible school names that could be considered. These could include consideration of a name that reflects a local geographical feature, the name of the suburb or street it will be located, or something else that might be meaningful locally.

Naming a school is not always an easy task and we appreciate that the local community will have some helpful ideas.  If you do have a suggestion for the school name please let us know what that is, and why you think it’s a good name for the school.

Please send any suggestions for names by Tuesday 20 April  to south.melbourne.park.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

SHRINE TO THE SEA PROJECT

We are getting in touch with a couple of updates about the Shrine to Sea project.

You may recall that we invited community members to share their vision for Shrine to Sea via Engage Victoria late last year. We received a terrific response; 470 people responded to our survey and 373 people highlighted areas of value on our interactive social map.

This information provides invaluable insights into how people use the project area, what aspects they value and how they would like to see it improved. You can read a summary of what we heard in the Community Engagement Summary Report (click to download).

In other Shrine to Sea news, we have established a Community Panel of 27 representatives who will gather for two meetings and four workshops in 2021. The panel met on Wednesday 17 March 2021 and participated in the first workshop on Saturday 27 March 2021. The group represents a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences and will feed into the development of the masterplan.

These are just two of the ways we will engage with the community throughout the project. Keep an eye on our Shrine to Sea webpage for regular updates and ways you can be involved.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions at all.

Best regards,

Amy Hidge, The Shrine to Sea Team
