Principal's Message

By Kris Parsons (Acting Principal)

Dear Parent/Carers,

Welcome back students, families and staff to Term 2. We hope you had a restful break and that students are ready for a great term of learning here at Jackson School.

We would like to extend our congratulations to Anthony & Hannah on the recent arrival of their second child Lottie. This is exciting news and look forward to meeting their new addition soon.

Staffing

During Anthony’s family leave I will be supporting Jackson School as Acting Principal, whilst Phil Haigh has been appointed Acting Assistant Principal of Secondary School.

I would like to congratulate Jackie Davie on the successful appointment as our Mental Health Practitioner (MHP). The role is a Department of Education initiative announced by the Minister for Education in late 2018 to expand mental health and wellbeing support in government schools. The initiative provides for a suitably qualified mental health professional in all government secondary school campuses. Welcome to our community.

More information about the initiative can be found on this link:

Student Surveys – Attitudes towards School Survey 2021

The student survey will be happening early this term in class and will play an important role in our school improvement. We value student voice as a community and this opportunity allows students to give honest feedback on how they see our school. This feedback will then inform our school of how we can better support our students in the future.

Community Events

Now in its 77th year, Education Week aims to positively profile and celebrate the strengths and achievements of Victoria's government education sector.

Education Week 2021 will run from 23-29 May and the theme is 'Building Connections'. The theme celebrates the connections between schools and local communities and strengthens bonds with families and carers.

Education Week is an opportunity for all primary, secondary, special schools, higher education, and early childhood services to showcase how they are building connections with the community around them.

This term we are also looking forward to opening our new community room, to support a range of community and family sessions. This links perfectly with this year’s Education Week theme of ‘Building Communities’, so please ‘keep your eye out’ in upcoming newsletters and Seesaw announcements for further information.
