5/6 Production - Oh What a Knight

WOW! 43 students from grade 5/6 did an AMAZING job auditioning for speaking roles. I am thankful for the other teachers who were on the audition panel and those who couldn't make it, we had a discussion using my notes. We have been blown away by the exceptional standard everyone performed at. The production team and I have a very hard decision to make ahead of us!!!

It might be a good idea to have a discussion with your child, that they may not get the role they want. Rejection and disappointment are all valid and normal feelings and building resilience is invaluable for life. I have found a good website you might want to check out to help your child, should they be feeling disappointment and rejection.

The singing auditions will start next Tuesday during lunchtime only. All students wishing to audition for Princess Alice and Watt Cobblers need to attend this audition (Dusty the Dragon doesn't sing in the song he/she says one line). The list for the singing auditions, to write their name on is in the theatre next to the light switch (exactly where the last audition list was located). They still need to write their name on the list, even if they told us during the audition, they were going for these roles. The students do not need to prepare anything to sing (I had told them to practise 'Happy Birthday' but I have since changed my mind - sorry for any inconvenience caused). They will listen, then sing a song from 'Oh What a Knight'. They don't need to know the words as I will have it on the projector/laptop. I am looking for students who sing in pitch as best as they can. If they wish to work on their pitch, they can sing along to their favourite singer ensuring they sound just like them or if they have a keyboard/piano try to match the note while singing it.

Can't wait to hear you sing and best of luck.

Choir

The students from choir have now come home with four songs to practise:

  • Hello Mother Hello Father
  • Cups
  • Cheap Thrills
  • Cover Me in Sunshine

Please don't worry it they can't learn these songs from memory however, they must know 'Hello Mother Hello Father' off by heart, as it has actions to it and yes....they do need to fake vomit. It's a great comedy song.
