A Word of Encouragement

“Everyone belongs.” That’s the tagline for Harmony Day which we’ve been celebrating this week at Girton.  It’s been a great time of shining a spotlight on the diversity amongst us as a community and to give thanks for it. A week to enjoy different cultures, learn new perspectives, seek understanding, and share our stories with one another. I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have!

Everyone belongs. As I’ve been reflecting on those words this week it strikes me that this is not simply a goal for 21 March, but in a much more profound way is the call of God to all people everywhere. You see, he’s busy building a kingdom of people from every nation, tribe, language, and culture. He’s writing the ultimate harmony day story, a million different communities coming together to him as one. And as he writes this story, he invites us all to join in.

Where does he do that??!” I can hear you thinking. “I must have missed that invitation in the post!” If that’s you, can I suggest you haven’t missed out and you don’t need to follow up with Australia Post! Instead, simply look again at the next holiday we are about to celebrate – Easter. Good Friday – God making the way for peace. Easter Sunday – God’s invitation to each of us to take up our place in his story.

Everyone belongs! A very happy Easter and a restful break to you all!
