ICCES Badminton

The Girton Badminton team competed in this year’s ICCES Badminton competition in Melbourne. Both Junior and Senior players competed against 6 other Independent schools from around Victoria.

Our Junior Female team comprising of Shi Huan Tong (9 Riley), Mia Nichol (8 Aherne) and Katelyn Tuohy (9 Frew), performed extremely well, winning 1st place. The Senior Girls team comprising of Joanna McLean (11 Millward), Imogen Ryan (11 Millward), Li Hindson (10 Jones) and Manaal Jeddi (11 Millward) also played well winning 2nd place. The Junior and Senior Boys teams, comprising of Bailey Dolan (9 Aherne), Jeb Collins (9 Jones), Adam Fisher (8 Jenkin), Angus Drummond (11 Aherne), Cortez Smith (11 Aherne) and Aksharan Shobanan (10 Riley), both came in 4th place. 

Despite the lack of training over the past year, Girton scored 3rd overall, an excellent result that myself and all the players are proud of. 

I would like to thank our coach, Martin Nanere, for preparing and training our players for ICCES along with Dr Itter for her help and support.
